Hans Andreae, the son of the conductor Volkmar Andreae, was a pianist and harpsichordist. He was a teacher at the Zurich Konservatorium and a chamber music player well known in Switzerland and abroad. He was specialized in Baroque music. Andreae composed the 10 duets in the old style shortly after the Second World War, as he felt there was a want of available recorder music.
The duets deserve to be known outside the "House Music Circle"; their standard vouches for them.
