Ignace Joseph Pleyel was born in Ruppersthal in Lower Austria on June 18th, 1757. In 1783, however, he moved to Strasbourg, France, and lived in his adopted country for the rest of his life (and henceforth went by the French version of his original given name, Ignaz). He died on November 14th, 1831, and was buried in the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
