Franz Danzi was born in Schwetzingen (Germany) on June 15th, 1763, and raised in Mannheim. He lived and worked in Mannheim, Munich, Stuttgart, and Karlsruhe, where he died on April 13th, 1826. He knew and revered Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was a contemporary of Ludwig van Beethoven, and served as a mentor to the young Carl Maria von Weber.
