Christian Friedrich Witt was a German musician and composer, born around 1660 in Altenburg, where he died on the 13th of April 1716. Little is known about his biography.He was named Chamber Organist at Gotha in 1686 and became Court Chapel Master of the Duke in 1713. Under his direction the music at the Court was flourishing.
Of his compositions we know the Psalmodia Sacra, some theatre music, three French Overtures, a seven-part sonata, two 4-part suites, three marches and music for the organ and other keyboard instruments. Sadly, his9 page score.
