Nicolaus a Kempis lived from approximately 1600 to 1676. He studied the organ and took a post at Sainte Gudule Church in Brussels in 1626. Between 1670 and 1672 his son, Joannes Florentius, took over. Another son, Thomas (Petrus), was also an organist. All three were active as composers.
