This selection of pieces by Heinrich Isaac (1450-1517) consists (with one exception, La morra) of arrangements of more or less well-known pieces of the fifteenth century. The melodies in O venus bant and Wohlauff, gut G'sell van hinnen are popular songs of the day, while the remaining pieces are based on courtly songs, mostly rondeaux, though Fortuna desperata is a simple strophic Italian song. Although it would be quite permissible to sing the "borrowed" melody in each case, it seems likely that these pieces were
La Morra and a delicate setting of Jay pris amours.
