A Walk in the Park was composed for Walter Avenllanedas John F. Kennedy High School Band. This composition features dynamic brass, sustained chords, sweeping & energetic woodwind lines, and a recurring three-note motif, in addition to the the intuitive musical phrasing for which Strommen is known. The vibrant fast sections are contrasted by a waltz in the middle of the piece, which is then followed by a wonderfully bold ending.
