Piano Sonata No. 2 [CF:490-01174]

A sonata in classic construct, with A-B-A movements, Baksa's Second Piano Sonata comes years after his first. His compositional explorations have taken him through woodwind, brass, and string solos and ensembles, and a series of works for the harpsichord (an instrument which obviously holds his curiosity), and he now returns to the piano with a new major work. The third movement is especially challenging, at times skipping, at times flowing across the keyboard, but a satisfying flight for fingers. For advanced pianists.
