James Whitbourn's “Beatus Vir” (Blessed is the man who fears the Lord) is here set for SSATB choir. With long, supporting lines are sung by the lower voices, the soprano 1 & 2 weave mellismatic lines over the top in a chant-like style. Composer Whitbourn is known for his rich harmonies and shifting tonal centers and this new work is true to this style.

Commissioned for the Choir of St Matthew�s Church, Northampton. First performed on St Matthew's Day, 21 September 2017, conducted by Justin Miller.
