Joseph Bodin de Boismortier was born on December, 23., 1689 in Thionville and died on October 28, 1755 in Roissy-en-Brie (according to H. Tribout de Morembert).
He lived in Metz, Nancy, Luneville and Perpignan, before setting in Paris in 1722.
