The three-part Marian Hymns by William Byrd (1542-1623) were composed at a time whenGradualia (1605). The setting of the fifth verse of "Ave Maria Stella", as given in that edition has been omitted; it is in a completely different range and written in different clefs. It appears to have been added at a later time.
