It is based on the 3-part moresca by Giovan Domenico da Nola, a Neapolitan musician. Lassus follow his model quite closely, but uses the extra parts to expand the original by modest use of antiphony. As in certain other of Lassus s arrangements in this genre, he leaves one line to be spoken (or shouted!).
