12 Trio Sonatas, Vol 3, No 7 to 9. Contributors: Corelli. Recorder Trios (ATB). Publisher's category: Recorder Trios.

Between 1681 and 1694, forty-eight trio sonatas by Arcangelo Corelli for two violins and basso continuo were published. These were widely copied and re-printed, and established his reputation throughout Europe. Many contemporary transcriptions were made for other instrumental combinations, including several for flutes (i.e., recorders). In the present arrangements, the violin parts are assigned to alto and tenor recorders, and the continuo part to a bass recorder. Though little music was composed specifically for recorder ensembles in the baroque era, there is evidence that they did exist. It is supposed that they played music originally written for other instruments. So it is quite likely that recorder ensembles were playing Corelli trio sonatas in the 1700s, and it is not inauthentic to continue this tradition today. Volume 3, numbers 7 to 9, 16pg score and parts.
