Written in celebration of the Raleigh Area Flute Association’s 25th anniversary, Ann Cameron Pearce’s Cosmic Horizons for flute choir exemplifies the organization’s unofficial motto: “The sky is the limit.” The main theme evokes meteors zipping sporadically in different directions throughout the solar system with multiple meter changes, and the secondary theme suggests the mysterious nature of outer space, with the “star” being a singing bowl or handbell and wooden dowel.
