Dating back to ca. 1770, Harmoniemusik was originally conceived for wind orchestras and was mainly played at open-air concerts as Tafelmusik (table music). Though the composers themselves typically adapted their own music for such purposes, this Rossini masterpiece, "The Barber of Seville," was not and is beautifully rendered here for saxophone quartet.
