This is an English Hymn tune first published in 1783. It became so popular with the colonists in America that it seems to be an integral part of our musical past as well. This arrangement consists of a statement of the tune and two contrasting variations with brief interludes in between each of them. Keys are C and F Major; the low range in the 3rd part is low C plus an optional Bb, and the high range in part one is high F. This trio is a must for any band director lucky enough to have three bassoon players, and if this one works well there is one more trio to get: Old English Songs.
