When asked by Margaret Shearing to write a piece for the closing of the 2003 Festival Dennis Bamforth set himself several aims: to make the music tuneful, to make it a possible concert piece for a large group or Recorder Orchestra and to make it convey the successful ending of a major Recorder event he hopes he has succeeded.
