The Czech composer Julyus Fuc<breve>ik (1872-1916) studied violin, bassoon and • with Antonín Dvor<caron>ák • composition at the Prague Conservatory. During his spell as a bandmaster in the Austro-Hungarian army he wrote a number of popular marches. Some of these, such as “Florentiner-Marsch” and “Entry of the Gladiators”, also known as “Circus Music”, are considered to be the epitome of their genre. This arrangement for string trio offers some rewarding and enjoyable music making to the players and makes this delightful piece available to a wider audience. For violin, viola, and cello.
