Though they all have a familiar ring, like many other folk tunes, I had not come across many of theseAustrian tunes until I found them in a little book bought in a second-hand shop in Bournemouth, England. At once, I wanted to arrange them, and hereMostly the melody is in the soprano line, butoccasionally the alto has it. Guitar and percussionparts are optional. Remember that both the guitar and the simplest percussion instruments can achievemore in the way of loud and soft than the recorderI hope you will enjoy playing these tunes as much as I enjoyed discovering and arranging them.
