Inspired by the magnificent Grand Teton Mountains of Wyoming, this bold excursion for two timpani (A-D) contrasts articulated notes with dramatic rolls as dynamic levels rise and fall. A cadenza midway through links the uptempo opening (quarter = 120) with the faster closing section (quarter = 132).
