A quick and joyful opening sets the pace for this rendering of the Magnificat text. Duples and triplets dance between voicing and accompaniment to a climactic "Amen" resolution. The Nunc dimittis begins with a simple soprano melody and chordal organ accompaniment. The work flows through several keys and, with the addition of parts, to a glorious, triumphant conclusion. It may be sung at any time and is suited to the Advent season.
