Czech composer and folklorist Leos JanĦcek's (1854-1928) IDYLL for string orchestra is his second surviving large-scale instrumental work, written by the then 24-year-old composer in the summer 1878 and completed on August 29. The work premiered on December 15th of that year in Brno under JanĦcek's direction with Anton­n DvorĦk in the audience, whose style was a great influence on the young composer and on this piece specifically.  Strings in set: 8-8-5-5-5.
