Divertissement Op.58.
Instrumentation: Oboe, Piano.
Composed by Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda.
Ed. Hansjörg Schellenberger.
Kalliwoda (1801 1866) was first and foremost a highly gifted violin virtuoso, but he also wrote several memorable works for oboe at a period in music history during which composers had almost completely abandoned the oboe as a solo instrument. Originally written for oboe and orchestra, Divertissement, Op. 58 has until now remained unpublished and was assumed lost. But owing to a recent discovery of a complete set of parts for the piece, oboe repertoire is now enriched by the presentation of Kalliwoda's significant work of the early Romantic period.
Reduction for Oboe and Piano.
