Composed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Karel Husas iconic Music for Prague 1968, LABYRINTH is an expansive, expressive four-movement work of symphonic weight and scope. Polyphonic webs of searching melody coalesce into enveloping tapestries of sound as the piece unfolds. Pann describes the epic final movement as a gargantuan crescendo like the last movement of Respighis The Pines of Rome or Ravels Bolero [that] should leave the audience and players sonically drenched by the end. LABYRINTH is an enthralling experience for ensembles and listeners alike, and one that will linger with them long after the last chord fades from the concert hall.
