Gerhard Maasz was born on 9 February 1906 in Hamburg and died on 28 April 1984 in Ronco sopra Ascona, where he had resided since 1967 with its wife and both sons.
From 1938-44 he was the director/conductor of the Wuerttembergi national orchestra. (today Stuttgart Philarmoniker).
