Mega-RONY, a delightful jazzy work for recorder orchestra (SSAATTBGb), is a three-movement musical portrait of a day in the life of an average citizen. The first movement - "Morning Overture" - portrays our citizen waking up and going to work. The second - "Mid-day Toil" - is in a jazz/rock idiom and offers a contrast between the drudgery of work and the comraderie and relaxation of a lunch break. The final movement - "Evening Celebration" - is a gigantic fugue that ends with all the players loudly banging the rhythm of the fugue melody on percussion instruments of their choice, bringing the piece to a glorious finale. Written as a salute to the recorder orchestra of New York. Contents: Morning Overture; Mid-day Toil; Evening Celebration. Score and parts.
