Sensitively set to music by Richard Kingsmore, this anthem urges us to grow in loving dedication to our Redeemer with every breath. American hymnist Elizabeth Payson Prentiss (1818-1878) was said to pen these deeply earnest words during an extended period of illness. It was thirteen years later, with the encouragement of her husband, that the hymn was finally published.
