The importance of the role of music in the world of the cinema has grown rapidly from the days of improvised pianistic accompaniments for silent movies right through to the orchestral masterpieces of the major film releases of recent decades.
Often, the identity of a film and its music become inseparable, and even pre-existing compositions, like the slow movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, have become more widely known and loved through their association with a film - Elvira Madigan in this instance.
This collection of piano duet arrangementws of music from the movies embraces a wide range of musical styles and includes, along with pre-existing compositions, the beautiful A Time for Us composed specifically for Franco Zeffirelli's film of Romeo and Juliet.
Primo and Secondo 'play-along' tracks are provided on the accompanying CD for the purposes of rehearsal as well as complete sequenced performances. These are offered as a guide and are not intended as definitive performances.
