Marcel de Backer (1924-2006) was an enthusiastic musician and father who always composed for one of his 13 children or for 15~ other talented young recorder players near where he lived. His compositions are veritable gems which should not remain stored away in my private papers, but instead deserve to reach a wide audience. -- Bart Spanhove, Editor (member of the Flanders Recorder Quartet).
