Peter Schickele answered a commission by Woodstock Chimes with this second Sonata in two movements. Scored for five percussionists, the Sonata No. 2 focuses primarily upon the mallet instruments, usi ng somewhat unusual techniques, and incorporates a beautiful section using four different wind chimes (Woodstock Chimes, of course). Premiered at the 6th annual Woodstock Guild concert in Aspen, "Sona ta No. 2" has been recorded by the Nexus Percussion Ensemble on the CD "Drumtalker" (Nexus label).
