The well known melody, dating from 1328 (known today as Good Christian Men Rejoice), is treated antiphonally by Praetorius. The tune is passed back and forth from organ to brass, combining at the end for a glorious finale. Originally published in the Musae Sioniae (1608) for 8-part choir, this arrangement is expanded for brass quintet and organ.
