Prelude and Fugue [CF:494-02859]

Editors Aichele and Pickett have carefully prepared this first edition, complete with critical notes, of a later work by American composer Marion Bauer (1882-1955). The included biography and background of the work are very helpful and the music itself is a wonderful example of Bauer's art, a lifelong blending of musical influences studied at home and abroad. This "new" two- movement duo for flute and piano is well worthy of rediscovery and should occupy an important place in American music of the mid-20th century. For advanced performers.
