Romantic and rhapsodic to the core, ROMANCE, ETUDE, AND CHORALE is a welcome addition to the piano four-hands repertoire. Although the composer has written numerous pieces for multiple pianos (Daydream and Nightmare for two pianos, eight hands; Variations on a Theme by Mozart for two pianos; and several others) or including piano four-hands as part of an ensemble (Appalachian Liebeslieder), ROMANCE, ETUDE, AND CHORALE is Liebermann’s first work devoted to the four-hands idiom itself.
