Camille Saint-SaĞns composed ROMANCE in F Major, Op. 36 in 1874, scoring it for horn or violoncello with orchestra or piano. The version for horn and piano premiered on February 14, 1874 in Paris with Salle Hertz as the soloist, and the orchestra version premiered on March 27, 1878 in Strasbourg with Joseph Stennebruggen on horn accompanied by the Strasbourg Municipal Orchestra, Camille Saint-SaĞns conducting.
