Melanie Helene Bonis was born in Paris on January 21st, 1858. A highly prolific composer, she wrote over 300 pieces, including works for piano solo and duet, organ, chamber music, songs, choral music, a mass, and works for orchestra. Mel Bonis died in Sarcells (Val-d'Oise) on March 18th, 1937.
