In 1620, the Margrave Christian Wilhelm of Brandenburg, administrator of the Archdiocese of Scheldts Canzon on "O Nachbar Roland" (XXVIII) in 5 parts is one of six large scale Canzons that make up half of "Ludi Musici".
"O Nachbar Roland" (O Neighbour Roland) was a very popular melody in England; William Byrd (among others) composed a piece named "Rowland" or "Lord Willoughbys Welcome Home" for the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book. It is a set of variations composed for the return of the victorious English Captain after his battle with the Spaniards in Flandres.
