Peter Schickele’s prodigious catalog contains a wealth of chamber music for a wide spectrum of ensembles, including those for strings with and without piano. But when the Alaria Trio approached Schickele to compose a work to premiere in Carnegie Hall, it was a perfect opportunity to compose his first work for this scoring.
