In his teen years, bassoonist and clarinetist Schickele composed pieces for his own use, and has ever since held a "fondness for the combination." Now, years later, he was presented with the opportunity to again compose for this duo, with the resulting Six Studies, a short (9' total) set of varied pieces ranging from reverent to raucous.
