Ernesto Koehler was born in Modena (Italy) on December 4th, 1849. He moved to Vienna in 1869, and then to Saint Petersburg in 1871, and spent the rest of his life there as a member of the orchestra of the Imperial Opera. He was also a soloist and composer, taught at the Prinz Oldenburg Institute, and led the orchestra of the Imperial Institute of Engineering. Ernesto Koehler died on March 17th, 1907.
