Gabriel Piernİ (1863-1937) wrote his SERENADE, Op. 7 either at 12 years old in 1877 or a few years later in 1881. Originally composed for violin and piano, the short, charming piece in the Spanish style was later transcribed for string orchestra by the composer. A string count of 8-8-5-5-5 is included in the set, although Piernİ makes clear that the contrabass is optional. Reprint edition.
