'Gaetano Donizetti composed this Sinfonia for flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 horns, and 2 bassoons in g minor while he was a student in Bologna in 1817. To make it easier to perform by recorders it has been transposed to d minor. The reduction to six voices is possible, as the pairs of instruments often play in unison or in octaves.'
