Sinfonie Nr. 4.
Boyce, William.
Arranged by Ulrich Herrmann.
Recorder Ensemble.
For: SATB-rec.

Score and parts.
'Not much is written or known about the English composer William Boyce (1711-1779). No doubt overshadowed by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel and Domenico Scarlatti in the golden age of the baroque, Boyce nevertheless made a living composing church anthems and a variety of works for the stage. Sinfonie Nr. 4 was originally composed as the overture to The Shepherd's Lottery, a pastoral opera first performed in 1751..Herrmann has retained the original key of F major, assuring a comfortable fit on recorders. Intermediates will have little trouble with either Allegro, at reasonable tempos.' - Early Music Newsletter of the NY Recorder Guild -- 'This Symphony is a favorite with upper intermediate groups to which I have introduced it, but they advise that it is best played one-on-a-part..[G]reat fun to sight-read and excellent for working on ensemble techniques.' - American Recorder (November 2006).
