John Loeillet (of London), born Jean Baptiste Loeillet in Ghent, baptised November 18, 1680, died July 19, 1730 in London. He was a Belgian composer and oboe and flute player; often, he gets confused with his cousin Jean Baptiste Loeillet (Loeillet de Gant).
He wrote sonatas for recorder, flute, oboe and B.C., trio sonatas for 2 flutes, 2 violins, oboe and recorder and Bc, as well as Lessons and suites for harpsichord.
This edition is based on the first edition (1729) of the op. 3 Sonatas kept in The British Library.
