Sonatina in Blues.
Margaret Goldston.
Piano.
First Published: 8/1996.
8 pages.
A deep southern jazz flavor comes through all three movements of this intermediate level suite in classical sonatina form. The 1st movement is the most classic in its features, but its syncopations give a hint of ragtime styling, while the 2nd movementís bluesy dotted rhythm feel and left hand melodies are suggestive of George Gershwin. The final exuberant Rondo movement is dance-like and playful, filled with jazzy seventh chords and syncopation. Students and listeners alike will be delighted with this extended solo piece.
