This work is based on Franz Kafkas last short work Josephine the Singer or the Mouse People. In that valedictory story, Kafka meditates on a mouse diva, Josephine, and the relationship to both her art and her audience. Commissioned by Maya Beiser and Steven Schick, with help from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, this work for cello and vibraphone is both challenging and unique.
