This work was written between December 11, 2001 and January 4, 2002 under the impact of war and terrorism. "Dona nobis pacem" is less a prayer to God, although it certainly is one, than an appeal to humanity. "Give (yourselves) peace". A pious hope, perhaps, as is the hope that such (restrained) art can bring about any change. And yet, senseless as it may seem, we can only fight war and terrorism though culture - culture which has to be characterized by sympathy and tolerance.
