Johann Gottlob Friedrich Wieck was born on August 18th, 1785; he died on October 6th, 1873. He was a noted piano and voice teacher, though he owes most of any present fame to having been the father of Clara Wieck Schumann. Interstingly enough, however, he opposed the marriage of his daughter to Robert; they married against his will.
