Published in 1964, this well established contest and recital favorite in two movements presents the ensemble in dramatically different stylistic lights. The first movement is a larghetto theme that should be played very freely with much expression, while the second is a lilting scherzando featuring a steady pulse. Rich harmonies abound in both.
