Partitas in Four Parts, Bk 1, 1 to 3. Contributors: Telemann. Recorder Quartets (SATB). Part(s). Publisher's category: Recorder Quartets.

Selected movements from the Darmstadt orchestrations, arranged for SATB recorders by Andrew Robinson.Book 1 of 2, parts 1 to 3.
Telemanns famous partitas the Kleine Cammermusic of 1716 are for one instrument and continuo: oboe, violin, flute traverse, or (interestingly) harpsichord, but especially for oboe. Each partita has a Prelude and six Arias that are, despite the name, mostly different types of dance (including German dances, which are rare in art music at this time).
All six partitas also exist in versions for orchestra or chamber group.
The ensemble versions are all different, showing that they were not made together as part of a set, but accumulated over some time; and were performed, perhaps, indoors or outdoors, to listen to or as background music, played by the court band or by its orchestra.
