Commissioned jointly by the Dean and Chapter of Winchester Cathedral and by Mrs Ruth Daniel, on behalf of St. John's College Cambridge (first performed at the Advent services at Winchester Cathedral and St. John's College, Cambridge, by their choirs, directed respectively by David Hill Robinson, 28 November 1998).
